Meet Our Leader
Christina Cotter, Principal
Ms. Cotter joined the Empower community in 2011 after nearly a decade teaching special education in New York City public schools. She was a special education teacher in 2011-12 before becoming a literacy coordinator in the 2012-13 school year.
Ms. Cotter’s leadership in literacy school-wide led to her promotion to academic director in 2013. As academic director, she directly supervises and coaches teachers and instructional team members throughout the school. She leads the instructional team in identifying goals and academic priorities for the school, monitoring these goals through data review and analysis, and making strategic decisions to achieve academic success.
Ms. Cotter was named Empower’s principal in 2015.
